Between the arches
The house takes its name from Calle dei Volti, a quiet lane in San Polo. In Venice, a volto is an arch spanning a street, joining one building to another. This calle has two, facing each other from either end: they once marked the property of the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, whose marble emblems still keep watch from the walls. Halfway between the two arches stands the house, which is where its name comes from: Fraivolti, fra i volti, “between the arches”.
I was born and raised in Venice. When I restored this house, I kept its original wooden beams and designed every room for comfort. Today I look after each stay with the same care.

Fraivolti is in San Polo, the smallest of Venice’s six sestieri, in a quiet corner just behind Campo San Tomà. Most of the city is within walking distance, and the vaporetto along the Grand Canal stops a minute from the door.

Questions guests ask
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 3 pm and check-out by 10 am. If you need different times, just ask before you arrive.
How does arrival work?
Before you arrive, you receive directions and a keypad code, so you can let yourself in any time from 3 pm. For anything you need during your stay, just send a message.
Can I leave my luggage before check-in or after check-out?
Yes, at no charge. A locked cabinet with a keypad on the ground floor can hold your bags all day.
Is there a lift?
No. The apartment is on the first floor, up one flight of 15 steps. The room is on the third floor, and the last flight is a little steep.
How do I get there?
Santa Lucia station and Piazzale Roma are about 10 minutes away on foot, and the San Tomà vaporetto stop is a minute from the door. Directions from the airport are in the guide.
Is there parking?
Cars stop at Piazzale Roma, at the edge of the historic centre. Book a space in advance at the Autorimessa Comunale or the Garage San Marco; from there Fraivolti is about 10 minutes on foot.
Do I have to pay the Venice access fee?
No. Guests staying overnight are exempt. On the days when the fee applies, the free exemption must be requested online: you receive instructions on how to do it before you arrive.
Is there a tourist tax?
Yes, but only for the first five nights: €4 per person per night, €2 for children aged 10 to 15, free under 10. It is paid separately during your stay.
